TERMINOLOGY

Visionary Learning Environment – An environment for learning, which results in expanded visionary qualities for the participant (Thus, something in another realm than the environments of most classrooms, courses and workshops).  As a metaphor, think of a lush jungle in unexplored mountains, a vision quest in the desert or a large sandbox where a small city will be constructed.  An environment that invites wild exploration, open criticism from left field (plus right field, the dugout, the stands and the couch of the TV viewer at home), laughter and play; experimentation; tough challenges, etc.  An environment that does not start out with a specific objective and a curriculum designed to fulfill the objective; but rather an environment that assumes and even expects that the learning will stretch far beyond anyone’s objectives for participation, and more—that stimulates and encourages the venturing beyond.  (we’ll actually co-create the VLE we’ll be inhabiting!)  OR,

The Vision Revolution – As technology frees and empowers the individual, Positionary forces fight back.  The heat and friction of these two dynamics creates makes each force even stronger, resulting in some big shifts.  One is the emergence of a remarkably free and powerful individual, who has grown strong in his stand to create the world he envisions, even in the face of Positionary forces.  We’ll call her The Rising Visionary.

The Rising Visionaries – Individuals who are stepping into unprecedented power to solve and transcend humanity’s crises.  They are markedly 1) visionaries (power to face, power to feel, power to stand, power to see), 2) evolutionaries (power to evolve, focus on being the change) and 3) creators (power to create, criticize by creating).

VisionForce (VF) – “Defenders of the Human Spirit.”  A heroic narrative, which points to those who 1) see The Rising Visionaries taking their stands, and often standing alone, standing judged, and lacking the skills, allies, etc. to continue forward; 2) honor these Rising Visionaries, and 3) stand with them.  Those who see The Rising Visionaries and stand with them are usually Rising Visionaries themselves.

VisionForce.com – A flag in the rock, where The Rising Visionaries stand.  The web site shares the narratives, which 1) honor the Rising Visionaries, 2) naturally inspire others to take their stand, and to make the shift from Positionary Mind of the Past to Visionary Mind of the Future, and 3) offer tools (used in a very broad sense) that are made broadly applicable for as free as possible to empower the Rising Visionaries in the “real world.”

The web site I invested $50,000 in last year would have done the trick, but instead the challenges with the company hired to deliver the site became a Visionary Learning Environment for me (ha!  true, and it left me with many of the insights and inquiries I’d love for other Visionary Educators to have!).

VisionForce Academy (VFA) – The academy exists primarily as an idea—a vision.  I’ve created a lot of programs and tools inspired by the vision of such a place, but it as yet has no physical home.  It exists online and wherever the VF work is being learned.  But as far as the VFA differs from VisionForce, VFA membership assumes that someone is already an entrepreneur or enterprising visionary, and they are desiring to increase their power, skills and effectiveness in bringing forth visionaries.

Visionary – By using the term Visionary, we’re recognizing that in this rapidly transforming and often times chaotic global environment, it is not enough to educate folks to be good, well-adjusted members of society, or even to become leaders, as this still leaves us looking for some great visionary leader to save the day.  To paraphrase Werner Erhard, it is time for each of us to find the visionary leader in ourselves.  Going a step further, we must be visionary leaders who bring forth visionary leaders, and who are brought forth by visionary leaders.

This requires a far greater element of FACING and FEELING (which in my opinion is a primary reason why people experience VisionForce events as so powerful).
